Essay: First Draft

The perspective of a mother who finds out that their child is gay because of things that have happened. Always trying to cover it up with things that make them seem normal is now in the open and she searches for answers in her religious views so that she can find safety there. She seeks things such as priests and doctors to figure out what would be wrong with her child, when there is nothing really wrong with her in the first place. She feels that something is wrong with her child because she doesn’t want her child to be like that in the first place and she doesn’t feel that this is the path that God had made for her child to be. She seeks someone to help her child go to a good path in life and become better. Then the child figures out that her mother and family won’t accept who she really is even though she is the same person as before. They already had attempted suicide in the first place and the answer now is not for suicide. But no one in the area is there for support. They do not to seek help from anyone at all so they only resort to the last thing which would be to just kill themselves. In doing so, the family and community are down one person. The suicide note left behind is what drives the whole emotional backlash from the mother to herself and the family upon each other. They try to understand what is going on in the mind of the poor child. The child leaves an imprint upon everyone in the town as they leave the world. Even though the child is dead, people constantly attack the family because of the background being in a religious community. The family is pinned against themselves because they have lived a religious life and the child not only was gay but killed themselves which is something that the church does not believe in. The family then has to choose whether they will fight and vouch for their child and themselves or attack their own child in doing what they had done, which separates the family to a point.
 
The perspective of the mother is written seeing what is happening to her family after the death of her child and how things cant go back to the way they were before no matter how much they want to believe that is true.
 
The child all they see is being attacked by everyone and there is no one to turn to around to talk to and there seems to be no hope. They turn to suicide for help because of that and leave a note so that they understand why they have done and resorted to that
